This week members of the Asian American Hotel Owners Assn. will be introduced to "The Hospitality Cloud." Designed by RMS Hospitality Solutions, hotel owners and operators attending the AAHOA Annual Convention April 22 to 25 at the Long Beach (California) Convention and Entertainment Center will experience a suite of cloud-based a la carte technology solutions that will streamline and simplify their operations. Two key elements of The Hospitality Cloud — the RMS9 PMS and a newly rebranded ePOS solution — will be on display in Booth #664. "RMS is one of the first hospitality software companies to embrace cloud-based computing and still one of the few to boast a full-featured, web-based property-management system," said Todd Sabo, RMS North America president and general manager. "As part of The Hospitality Cloud, we are introducing yet another first for RMS, the introduction of a new cloud-based, touchscreen point-of-sale solution that includes digital menu boards, kitchen video screens, customer-facing displays for advertising, and integrated security cameras. Mobile software for smartphones and tablets also is featured to support remote self-service ordering by guests. The solution comes equipped with an integrated web store for online ordering and features web reports that are ideal for multi-venue properties or franchise businesses." More than 4,000 properties in 25 countries currently rely on RMS for their property solutions, of which 60 percent are now fully operating via The Hospitality Cloud. On The Hospitality Cloud, lodging operators can run their property management, point of sale, channel management, guest marketing, business intelligence, tour desk and other systems without any reliance on hardware or IT infrastructure. What is The Hospitality Cloud?
The Hospitality Cloud from RMS is a group of web-based modules that can be used independently or in concert to help make any hospitality business more profitable. The following elements reside on the cloud:
"We are eager to meet with AAHOA members to unveil our new ePOS solution and explain to them the importance of migrating all core on-premise technologies to the cloud," Sabo said. "Taking technology above-property removes the requirement to manage an IT system. The responsibilities of backups, data security and maintaining optimum efficiency are no longer the responsibility of property managers. Better yet, The Hospitality Cloud removes a hotel's dependency on the reliability of hardware. If a hotel experiences a computer failure, staff simply needs to access the cloud from a different computer without missing a single record. If mobile access, secure data back-up and storage, easy data archiving, and the elimination of on-site IT support isn't enough of a motivation to migrate to the cloud, being 'up' and operational 99.98 percent of the time should be."
