Newmarket International announced today it is rolling out new product training options for users of its sales and marketing automation applications, adding computer-based training courses and a virtual classroom curriculum that uses live instruction that hospitality professionals access via the Web.
The new educational opportunities offer Newmarket's worldwide customer base of 65,000 users additional methods to augment the company's onsite training. "Our goal is to help customers reap greater efficiency and profit by using Newmarket products to their full potential," said Melanie Schranz, Newmarket's Educational Development Specialist and Virtual Classroom project leader. "Our new CBT courses will provide baseline knowledge and features training, which will make onsite training more effective. As business needs are targeted, supplemental training can be delivered via the Web." Newmarket has partnered with Centra Software (Lexington, Mass.), a provider of e-commerce collaboration software. Newmarket will build and implement its courses using Centra's Symposium, which enables students to log in remotely, follow prepared lessons facilitated by a live instructor, and interact with all participants using live audio over the Internet. In the virtual classroom environment, students can ask questions of the teacher, collaborate with other users to share solutions and approaches, and can apply lessons directly to their own customer data in individual "breakout rooms." Each class is recorded and available as an online reference tool. Newmarket will launch pilot programs in the second quarter of 2000 and deliver live learning in the fall. Proposed courses include Profit Pack, Market Vision, Reporting, and technology overviews created especially for executives. Newmarket's first computer-based training offering, Upgrading to Delphi 7.2, is an interactive CBT designed for sites upgrading from Delphi 7.1.2 to 7.2. This content-rich program teaches users the new features of Delphi 7.2 using audio, video, quizzes, and real-life scenarios to provide engaging, self-paced training. Breeze sites upgrading from version 3.1.2 will also find this CBT useful. Newmarket can install the CBT during the upgrade, or the program can be purchased directly from the company's sales team at salesinfo@newsoft.com. The next CBT, entitled, The Delphi New Employee Training CD, ships in May 2000. Other titles scheduled for release this year include Newmarket Systems Analyst (NSA) Training and Profit Pack. "These new training initiatives will enable hotels to provide convenient, ongoing, standardized training to all personnel," said Newmarket Educational Development Specialist Tracey Kogelmann. "Professionals will also be able to integrate higher levels of functionality, add to their product knowledge, and thus perform better at their jobs."
