PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- Newmarket International, one of the fastest-growing companies on the New Hampshire Seacoast, or "e-Coast," as it is rapidly becoming known, is donating computers and networking expertise to Cross Roads House, a local shelter for homeless families and individuals.
Newmarket, which has a longstanding relationship providing technology and training to Cross Roads residents, got a recent boost in its efforts from a new team member, NFL Hall of Fame running back Gale Sayers. Newmarket recently purchased computer hardware and services from Sayers Computer Source, a value-added reseller that Sayers has built into a $100 million company over the past 17 years. Sayers visited Newmarket's world headquarters in Portsmouth today. Both companies will provide hardware, and Newmarket will provide networking expertise to upgrade Cross Roads' new administrative offices. Once the offices are networked, MediaOne will donate a year of its Road Runner Internet service. "The success of technology companies today is measured in service and what they give back to the community," said Newmarket President Steve Giblin. "Newmarket is proud to share its technological and human resources with vital charities such as Cross Roads House, and we're honored that Sayers Computer Source and MediaOne are participating with us." Newmarket, which turns 15 later this year, selected Sayers as it main hardware provider due to aggressive pricing, numerous industry recommendations, and its reputation for superior service, according to Jeffrey Bardin, Newmarket's IT Director.
