PORTSMOUTH, N.H -- At its annual Kickoff meeting last week, Newmarket International announced its final numbers for 1999 and outlined its goals for the year 2000.
Newmarket grew revenue by 43 percent in 1999 to over $40 million. Newmarket President Steve Giblin attributed the increase to the ahead-of-schedule launch of the company's 7.2 product line, which includes the hotel cluster sales solution Delphi Multi-Property Edition, and the upgraded enterprise application Global SFA, which distributes data to linked properties from a single global sales database. Newmarket installed a total of 516 systems in 1999. Giblin said the goal is to double that number in 2000. But Newmarket's major initiative for 2000 is completing the transition to becoming an eCommerce organization. Newmarket is about to release "We have a broader vision than just playing in the .com space," said Giblin. "Our global plan for 2000 and beyond is that every hotel, every convention center, every convention and visitors bureau, every travel and tourism agency, and every service and destination that touches the group sales market will be connected by Newmarket products. We have unlimited capacity for growth, and need only expand on our operational excellence to reach all of our goals." The company added 135 new employees in 1999 and expects to add 170 more in 2000, to bring its worldwide employee base to 525 by year's end. Newmarket International (
