Newmarket International President Stephen J. Giblin Selected to Participate in "Building a 21st Century Economy" Regional Forum
30 September 1999

Newmarket International President Stephen J. Giblin is a scheduled participant in the upcoming "Building a 21st Century Economy" Regional Forum. Giblin will discuss New Hampshire's high tech industry and share his ideas on what the Northeast region must do to build on its growing reputation as a leader in technology and eCommerce. This region includes the Massachusetts-New Hampshire high tech corridor, and the "eCoast" which stretches from Cape Ann, Mass., to Portland, Maine.

Giblin became Newmarket's president and CEO in 1996. Under his leadership, the company has doubled in size to 360 employees, seen a tripling of annual revenues, and has opened offices on three continents.

The forum, sponsored by the National Governor's Association Center for Best Practices, takes place Wednesday, October 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Harborside Hotel and Conference Center in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Governors Paul Cellucci and Jeanne Shaheen will lead the morning roundtable discussion. Both governors selected two business leaders from their states to participate. Shaheen selected Giblin and Bud Hawkins, president and CEO of National Aperture, Inc.

The morning discussion will feature statements from each governor and industry leader, and a question-and-answer period. In the afternoon, plenary sessions will focus on such issues as workforce development, research and development, and quality of life.
