MONTREAL, QC, CANADA – April 26, 2012 – Kaba, the provider of ILCO and Saflok electronic locks , announced that "Les Hôtels JARO" in Quebec City, Canada retrofitted five of its properties with Kaba"s RFID locking systems. The hotel management company implemented ILCO 790 locks at three of its hotels, and Saflok RT locks with the Messenger LENS wireless online system at two other properties. "Les Hôtels JARO" operates a total of seven hotels in Quebec City. Its "Hotel Quebec Inn", "Hotel Quebec", and "Hotel Must" properties recently installed Kaba"s ILCO 790 locks. The Hotel Palace Royal and its sister property, the Hotel Plaza Quebec, installed Saflok RT hotel door locks with Messenger LENS online wireless system.

The company"s other two hotels, the Auberge Sir Wilfrid and Hotel Lindbergh are both scheduled for future upgrades to RFID technology.

Kaba delivers "consistently high quality service"
Les Hôtels JARO previously used magnetic-stripe locks from Kaba. Management evaluated several vendor and technology options before retrofitting its door locks with RFID. "The decision to upgrade to RFID came after several repeat guests had trouble caused by erasure of their mag-stripe keys," Marcoux said. With onsite training, 24/7 customer support and a personalized web-store we knew we could expect the same consistently high quality service for their RFID locks. It was the right decision."

"Also the Messenger LENS wireless network is particularly advantageous", Marcoux said. "I can track all key usage and even recode doors remotely if needed. Another plus for our guests is Kaba"s extremely fast interface to our property management systems. When guests check in, the system codes a keycard for them automatically in about 3 seconds. This is great for service."

RFID keys last longer than magnetic-stripe
Marcoux noted that "Les Hôtels JARO" properties instituted a key recycling initiative as part of its "Green Key" eco rating program. "RFID keycards last longer than mag-stripe keys so we can reuse them repeatedly. Our executive housekeepers are instructed to collect the keys that guests leave in their rooms. We also have key drop boxes at the front desk."
