After purchasing its first systems from Xn group in 2000, Barceló Hotels and Resorts signs a 4.5 year contract extension with Xn Hotel Systems Ltd for PMS/CRS, POS and electronic distribution services. Barceló Hotels & Resorts is a privately owned Spanish Group, managing 187 hotels across more than 15 countries and 3 continents. In the UK, Barceló operates 21 4-star hotels (formerly the Paramount Group of Hotels) in inspiring locations across Scotland, Northern England, Central England, Southern England and Wales, from vibrant city and town centres, spectacular coastal resorts and countryside retreats. The technology services relationship between Xn and the hotels managed by Barceló UK dates back a decade, when the group installed Xn’s POS system into the Paramount Hotel Oxford in 2000. Xn’s next generation POS system, Xn dotPOS Enterprise, was first selected and installed at the Palace Hotel Buxton in April 2001. In September 2002, protel MPE was selected as the group’s preferred PMS and first implemented at the Carlton Hotel Edinburgh on 2 December 2002, in a centralised, multi-property environment - one of the first such centralised deployments in the United Kingdom. All 13 properties in the group were rolled out over the next 8 months.
