Following its success as the PMS chosen for Athens in 2004, the "Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad" (BOCOG) selected protel in May of this year after an exhaustive review of the leading systems on the market. At the conclusion of a highly successful Games, protel was awarded with two symbolic gold medals for its excellence in managing the Olympic media village in Beijing. protel was also used to accommodate international tourist flows. The Multi Property Edition of protel (protel MPE) was implemented to accommodate guests in the town's hotels and in the Olympic village.
