All SynXis Properties To Upgrade To The Redx Distribution Management System By July 31st
Thousands of properties will benefit from the millions of dollars invested in RedX®
20 May 2007

SOUTHLAKE, Texas | SynXis, the Sabre Holdings business that provides hotel reservation management, distribution and technology services globally, announced today that they will complete the upgrade of all their hotel customers to the RedX Distribution Management System by the end of July. Hotels will benefit from the upgrade with streamlined operations, broader distribution, more robust integration, increased international capabilities and improved revenue management controls.

“We’ve upgraded all of our properties from SynXis’ Classic CRS to RedX and we’ve been impressed with how simple it was to make the transition,” commented Michael Grossman, Sr. Corporate Director, Global Distribution for Dolce International. “Our hotels are thrilled with the easy navigation and rate management features of RedX that enable the hotels to maximize revenue across all channels. We also love the speed of the SynXis development cycles; quarterly product releases mean we never have to wait long for our requested enhancements.”

RedX debuted at HITEC in June of 2005 and quickly caught on with its ease of use. SynXis has been methodically upgrading their customers based on each property’s individual needs relative to the evolution of the platform. To make the switch seamless for the customers, SynXis created data migration tools along with context sensitive help screens and online training sessions

“When we released RedX two years ago we planned to sunset our other platforms in three years. But our customers’ overwhelming demand to move to RedX has allowed us to significantly shorten this time line,” said Scott Alvis, President and General Manager for SynXis. “Our technology has always been a key differentiator for SynXis and we look forward to maintaining that edge with RedX into the future.”

"RedX has been a great tool for Sonesta to maximize our revenue opportunities. We find the user interface to be intuitive and offer an amazing range of features from maintenance of GDS content to multi-language interfaces for the Internet booking engine; from length-of-stay patterns to derived rates; from cross-selling sister properties to an amazing array of reporting tools,” said Scott Corey-Dunbar, Vice President, Revenue & Distribution for the Sonesta Collection. “Perhaps most impressive is that SynXis achieves their promised release dates for upgrades and new features -- this is invaluable and assists Sonesta when planning marketing programs and training.”

RedX is the next-generation in CRS technology and there are currently over 6,600 properties benefiting from its feature-rich platform and greater than 99.9% uptime. During peak hours RedX processes over 200 availability checks per second with an average response time of under 0.14 seconds. This number of hotels and performance under high load demonstrates the scalability and power of the RedX platform. Today RedX handles a transaction load that exceeds transaction volumes typical of even the largest chain and the system is architected to support continued rapid growth.

In 2007 SynXis will spend $8 million on software, hardware, and development resources to further advance RedX’s capabilities ahead of the industry’s ever-changing needs. In particular SynXis is enhancing its already robust channel and rate management tools and its differentiated integration products, Property ConnectSM and Channel ConnectSM. This fall SynXis will release the new Guest ConnectSM booking engine which has been developed after more than a year of market research, customer feedback and usability studies.

The continued investment in SynXis and RedX further demonstrates Sabre’s commitment to selling more room nights for hotels than any other company in the travel industry.
