COLUMBIA, Md. -- MICROS Systems, Inc.
[NASDAQ: MCRS]
, a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, has installed its 9700 Hospitality Management System with NetVuPoint at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas. The Venetian, a landmark luxury property on the famed Las Vegas Strip, upgraded its original MICROS point-of-sale system to gain advanced management functionality and a highly efficient MS-SQL browser-based reporting interface, NetVuPoint.
"Leveraging its existing MICROS 8700 system, installed in April 1999, Venetian's management preserved its original hardware investment and eliminated any front-end retraining since no changes were apparent to the front-end staff," explained Ed Chapel, Vice President of Western Distribution for MICROS Systems. "9700 offers the most casino-specific functionality for both front and back office users delivering a highly functional ad-hoc reporting engine. This is one reason why 9700 has been chosen as the POS standard by more than 60 casinos so far this year." "Selecting MICROS 9700 as our next-generation POS solution was a great decision for us and for our guests," stated Jack Braman, Vice President of Information Technology at the Venetian. "The MICROS 9700 system provides the tools necessary to achieve our technology strategy and goals for the highest level of guest service. With the 9700 system, we have a better understanding of our guests preferences and activities, allowing us to provide the services that meet their needs and expectations. With the recent openings of our Venezia Towers and Venetian Congress Center, and more expansion planned for next year, we are confident this system has the power and scalability to help us manage our tremendous growth." Steve Vollmer, the Venetian's Director of Information Technology, added, "The upgrade did not interrupt our guest service at all. Our back-office users retained all of their programming and set-up, saving us valuable time and money. Now we have, in my opinion, the industry's most powerful Point-of-Sale system." The MICROS 9700 Hospitality Management System (HMS) is a cost-effective, highly usable point-of-sale system built on an open systems architectural platform. It is specifically designed to handle a high-volume, multiple- revenue center environment. The 9700 HMS can produce up-to-the-minute customized reports in real time, and allows multiple users to operate other software programs while the system is in use. The system can also automate specific utilities, allowing reports and other functions to run at the same time each day, unattended. Utilizing Microsoft SQL 2000 and XML, the new 9700 NetVuPoint advanced web reporting suite allows the entire enterprise to view actionable reports and graphs in real-time. The new web interface allows the user to query all transaction level detail, producing not only check images, but also journal entries that allow managers to identify sales trends and service issues, and conduct full system audits. NetVuPoint also exports to HTML, Microsoft Excel, PDF or Text, allowing the data to be easily shared. The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino, a recipient of the Exxon/Mobile Four Star Award, AAA's Four Diamond Award, and the Five Star-Diamond Award by the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences, is one of the world's most luxurious resort and convention destinations. Additionally, the property has been honored as "The Top 5 Catering Departments in the World" by Meetings and Conventions Magazine. Re-creating Venice's legendary landmarks, the resort offers unmatched service and quality for leisure and corporate guests. Located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, The Venetian features The Grand Canal Shoppes, an indoor streetscape complete with gondolas and singing gondoliers, the Canyon Ranch SpaClub, world-class gaming, 18 fine dining restaurants, the Guggenheim-Hermitage Museum, and extensive convention and corporate services.
