TOKYO -- MICROS Systems, Inc.
[NASDAQ: MCRS]
, a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, announced that Royal Park Hotels today launched MICROS's new multi-lingual OPERA Enterprise Solution. The OPERA Enterprise Solution includes an integrated OPERA Central Reservation System (OCRS) and OPERA Customer Information System (OCIS), in addition to MICROS-Fidelio Property Management Systems (PMS) and MICROS Point of Sale (POS) for its group of hotels.
"By introducing the system, Royal Park Hotels will be able to open a Central Reservations office utilizing the most advanced bi-lingual software on the market," said Yutaka Nakamura, President of Royal Park Hotels. "Our selection process was a very detailed and extensive one. MICROS is known as the global leader in hospitality automation. It entered Japan more than five years ago with the establishment of a local office, and has created a high quality, experienced, team of Japanese professionals that service the Japanese market. We are pleased to be the global launch customer for the MICROS OPERA multi-lingual Enterprise solution, as we believe that this multi-faceted solution will take the Japanese hotel industry into a new era of hospitality automation." Stefan M. Piringer, President of MICROS-Fidelio Asia/Pacific added, "We are delighted to receive a strong vote of confidence from one of the pioneers of the Japanese hotel industry. MICROS-Fidelio worked very hard to establish itself as a leading hospitality automation supplier in Japan, and this project is a very important milestone in achieving that goal. By working closely with Park Royal Hotel, we were able to define and address the unique requirements for the Japanese market, including access to global distribution systems in multiple languages, whereby inventory and rates are being controlled from a single point at all times, thus guaranteeing last room and best rate availability." The Royal Park Hotels and Resorts Co., Ltd. currently operates eight hotels throughout Japan included in the major urban areas of Tokyo, Yokohama and Sendai. A ninth hotel, the Royal Park Shiodome Tower, is set to open in July 1, 2003. When it does, it will boost the Royal Park Hotels and Resorts' total room count to over 2,500. The company has also begun operating meeting and conference facilities to businesses in the key Marunouchi district.
