Using a centralized database, the MICROS-Fidelio IMS allows ships to muster and monitor personnel more quickly via the swipe of an encoded ID card and maintain real-time tracking of all those aboard at any time. This is an especially important function for naval vessels, including medical ships like the Comfort and Mercy, because their crews fluctuate dramatically based on duty status, and can swell from under one hundred personnel to more than one thousand within hours of being called to active duty. The swipe card system allows the ships to process hundreds of crew within minutes, eliminating time- consuming paper logs. In addition, the system increases the security, accuracy and timeliness of shipboard personnel management and reporting.

The MICROS-Fidelio IMS is a scalable COTS-based system that runs on an Oracle database with client/server technology. It uses the Windows NT (4.0) and Windows 2000 platforms with network protocol TCP/IP. The IMS's features include crew check-in and check-out, crew invoicing, crew administration including crew safety features, integrated Point-of-Sale system, multiple cruise open capability, automated document return, and user tracking and system security. Optional modules for the system include Shore Excursions, Gangway Security, Currency Exchange, Dining Room Reservations, Personalized Daily Program, Data Warehouse Viewer, Payroll Module and Remote Check-In.
