Marco Polo Hotel Group Yields with MICROS's OPUS 2 TopLine PROFIT
13 November 2002

HONG KONG, The Marco Polo Hotel Group selected MICROS's yield management system, OPUS 2 TopLine PROFIT, for its three Hong Kong properties, after a 16-month selection process.

"Marco Polo Hotels commenced evaluation of yield management systems prior to the tragic events of September 11, which had a major impact on Hong Kong," says Michael C. Kalyk, President of the Marco Polo Hotel Group. "Given the sharp business downturn following the events of September 11, we reviewed our yield management strategies and concluded that the need for such a software tool is greater than ever. We need flexibility and proper planning tools for our senior management to maximize the business. Yield management is an essential ingredient in enhancing operational performance -- not just in boom times, as Hong Kong experienced some time ago. MICROS-Fidelio with its OPUS 2 TopLine PROFIT product, provided the best technological and commercial solution with its enhanced interfaces to the MICROS-Fidelio property management and MICROS-Fidelio sales & catering systems that are deployed in all of our Hong Kong properties."

"The Marco Polo Hotel Group and MICROS-Fidelio have worked together for many years in many areas, including hotel and restaurant management solutions and the provision of global product distribution services. The selection of OPUS 2 TopLine PROFIT as Marco Polo's new yield management system continues Marco Polo's development of a technology-integrated hotel management company, and we are confident that OPUS 2 TopLine PROFIT will enhance their operational results," added Stefan M. Piringer, President of MICROS-Fidelio Asia/Pacific. "OPUS 2 was a pioneer in the science of revenue management, as we created the most effective solutions for maximizing yield in all type of hotel properties."
