Travelweb LLC Chosen by SynXis Corporation as Preferred Distributor of Net Rate Hotel Inventory Online
Travelweb's New Approach to Merchant Model Lowers Distribution Costs for Hotels, Offers Consumers Latest Discount Rates
7 October 2002

DALLAS & MCLEAN, Va.--Dallas-based Travelweb LLC today announced it has implemented an agreement with SynXis Corporation to serve as a preferred distributor of net rate hotel inventory, a service that the reservation service provider will make available to its more than 3,800 hotel member properties worldwide.

McLean, Va.-based SynXis' hotel user base includes MGM Mirage Group, CHIP Hospitality, Ringhotels, Windmill Inns, and Sutton Place Hotels.

Travelweb LLC, originally launched as Hotel Distribution System LLC in February 2002, is backed by Hilton Hotels Corporation, Hyatt Corporation, Marriott International, Six Continents Hotels, Starwood Hotels and travel technology provider Pegasus Solutions, Inc.

The two-year agreement gives SynXis' member hotels the ability to offer consumers net rate hotel room inventory through Travelweb's new automated system that delivers up-to-the-minute discounted hotel rooms directly from the hotel's inventory in the SynXis Reservation Management System. Travelweb LLC will include SynXis' hotel members' net rates in its private-label offerings distributed via third-party sites such as Orbitz. Additionally, the member hotels' discounted inventory will be available via Travelweb.com this fall.

"Travelweb LLC is revolutionizing the online merchant model by replacing the outdated paper and fax manual method with a new, automated process that lowers distribution costs for the hotels and delivers the latest discounted room rates to consumers," said Joe Humphry, chief executive officer of Travelweb LLC. "By using Travelweb's direct connection model created for hoteliers by hoteliers, SynXis' member hotels can effectively manage yield and revenues, while greatly increasing their booking opportunities through our growing affiliate network."

SynXis provides its hotel membership with a low-cost, highly functional, and expandable hotel reservation system that maintains a single, real-time representation of property inventory - accessible by all booking sources. This Internet-native ASP solution delivers full electronic distribution and reservations management capabilities to hotel property managers.

"Travelweb LLC's technology supports SynXis' strategy of making reservations and distribution simple and cost-effective for our member hotels, while providing them as many distribution channels as possible," said Bernard Ellis, vice president of product strategy for SynXis Corporation. "Because of Travelweb's direct connection to SynXis through Pegasus Solutions' technology, our member hotels don't need to spend time and effort managing a separate inventory, or manually entering Travelweb reservations into their property management systems, as would be the case with many other merchant model sites."
