WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.--Nomadix, the recognized leader in mobility-enhancing technology, today announced the availability of the Nomadix Hospitality Service Gateway (HSG-100), designed for providing transparent and secure mobile user connectivity for small to mid-sized hotels deploying High-Speed Internet Access (HSIA) for their guests.
According to the American Hotel and Motel Association, 66% of all hotels and motels in the United States have less than 75 rooms. "We have seen an increase in demand from smaller hotels that need to provide High-Speed Internet Access for their guests in order to stay competitive," said John DiGiovanni, Director of Marketing at Nomadix. "This service is becoming a feature hotel guests expect, regardless of the hotel's size." The Nomadix Hospitality Service Gateway is a 1U high, freestanding full-featured network appliance that employs one fast Ethernet port to interface with the router (network side) and two fast Ethernet switch ports to interface with the aggregation equipment (subscriber side) within the network. Local billing is made easy by connecting the Nomadix Hospitality Service Gateway directly to the hotel's Property Management System (PMS) via the built-in RS232 port. It enables the rapid rollout of HSIA for up to 100 simultaneous guests -- regardless of whether the broadband network is wireless, DSL, cable, or Ethernet. Key Features Include: Transparent Connectivity -- Nomadix's patented Dynamic Address Translation(TM) (DAT(TM)) technology provides transparent and seamless broadband connectivity to any user at any location, without the need for configuration changes to the client computer or any resident client-side software. Local Service Presentment -- Home Page Redirection (HPR) function intercepts the browser's home page request and replaces it with a destination URL designated by the hotel allowing anyone to access the network and be directed to a Web site to establish an account, select a service plan, or pay for services. Access Control -- Allows the hotel to create a "walled garden" within the Internet where unauthenticated users can be granted access to selected sites while also providing the ability to completely block access to certain locations for all guests. Billing and Authentication -- The HSG-100 is compatible with a wide variety of PMS systems and also enables the deployment of direct room billing in wireless networks by querying most popular PMS systems for confirmation of the guest name and room number using its unique 2-Way PMS feature.
