, a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, has installed its new Mobile MICROS hand-held solution at all 38 locations of Alex's Cafe, a German restaurant chain owned and operated by UK-based Six Continents Retail. Mobile MICROS is the Company's third-generation wireless hand-held POS solution, specifically designed for the table service and quick service restaurant marketplace. It is a fully integrated extension of the MICROS Restaurant Enterprise System 3000 POS system, which was installed at all Alex's Cafe locations six months ago.
Mobile MICROS is powered by the Windows(R) Pocket PC platform from Microsoft(R) and utilizes industry standard wireless network protocols. This robust software platform creates a user-friendly mobile interface. Mobile MICROS uses the Symbol Model 2846 handheld terminal from Symbol Technologies, available in color or monochrome displays and ruggedized specifically to endure the harsh environment of a restaurant. Mobile MICROS will also run on other POCKET PC hardware platforms such as the Compaq iPAQ.
