Cheers(TM) Boston Selects MICROS 3700 Point-of-Sale Solution for Its World-Famous Pub as Well as Fine Dining Restaurants
16 May 2001

COLUMBIA, Md., May 16 / MICROS Systems, Inc. [NASDAQ: MCRS] , a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, has installed its 3700 Point-of-Sale (POS) system at Boston's Bull & Finch Pub -- the original inspiration for the hit TV show Cheers(TM) -- as well as its affiliated fine dining establishments, The Hampshire House and 75 Chestnut. These Beacon Hill landmarks also operate a high-volume retail business that will be served by the MICROS 3700 POS as well.

The MICROS 3700 POS system offers a unique solution for multi-site restaurateurs. Its Enterprise Management Solution module provides a centralized tool for in-depth reporting and database management for any number of locations or revenue centers. The 3700 system also features a powerful combination of applications to streamline front-of-house operations for food, bar and retail business, and simplify back-office management with accurate, up-to-the-minute reporting and analysis.

"Before selecting MICROS as our POS provider, we did extensive research on many other systems," explained Tom Regan, Director of Operations for the Hampshire House Corporation. "MICROS had exactly what we were looking for: many years of experience and specialization in serving the restaurant industry, a knowledgeable and responsive staff, and an excellent product that could streamline the different areas of our business. The 3700 POS has the power and flexibility to work just as well for our fine dining restaurants as it does for the Cheers(TM) pub and our busy retail outlet."

"MICROS is pleased to be playing a role in the highly successful operation of this world-famous pub," stated Robert Raiche, General Manager for MICROS- Fidelio Direct Northeast. "The Hampshire House Corporation has 14 terminals installed in eight different revenue centers. All that data will be automatically synthesized into customized operations reports, providing real- time information for immediate analysis and decision-making. The MICROS 3700 POS offers customers all the tools they need for more efficient and effective management."

About Hampshire House Corporation

Thomas A. Kershow, Chairman & Chief Executive Office of the Hampshire House Corporation, has been the dynamic force behind the growth of the Hampshire House since 1969, when he purchased this elegant turn-of-the-century mansion.

Kershaw's vision and energy has enabled the Hampshire House to retain its original grandeur while accommodating Bostonians and tourists for special events, private parties, weddings, corporate functions, and Sunday jazz brunches.

Just after he purchased the property, he installed the authentic English style Bull & Finch Pub in the basement of the Hampshire House. In 1982, Hollywood came to Boston and found Kershow's distinctive pub in the heart of historic Beacon Hill. Since then, this neighborhood pub has become a landmark on the map of Boston -- the inspiration for the setting of the TV series Cheers(TM), and the #1 attraction in Boston.

In October of 1997, Kershow once again expanded the Hampshire House Corporation by purchasing 75 Chestnut, a romantic Beacon Hill restaurant and bar, located on 75 Chestnut Street. Serving upscale contemporary American cuisine, this fine dining destination has established itself as a favorite among neighborhood fine diners.
