Wyndham Continues Rapid Deployment of Guest-friendly Technology With Addition of MICROS's OPERAPalm for Wireless Check-in
Chain's Convention Hotels and Destination Resorts To Offer Convenience Of Curbside Check-in, Check Out
28 March 2001

DALLAS / March 29, 2001-- In its ongoing commitment to add technologies that enhance the guest experience, Wyndham International, Inc. [NYSE: WYN] is rolling out a new wireless check-in/check out service to simplify registration and reduce wait times at the front desk.

Wyndham's large conference hotels and destination resorts in the U.S. and select Caribbean properties will receive the new service during the next 18 months via technology developed by MICROS Systems, Inc. [NASDAQ: MCRS] .

Due to existing integrated property management systems, Wyndham is the first U.S.-based hotel chain to be able to seamlessly implement wireless check-in. Currently, the new technology is live at the Wyndham Dallas Market Center.

"Wyndham's wireless registration will allow us to welcome guests curbside with a fast check-in process that completely eliminates the need to stop at the front desk," said Fred J. Kleisner, chairman and chief executive officer of Wyndham. "Additional conveniences include reduced registration times when large groups arrive simultaneously at a conference hotel and the ability for leisure guests who arrive prior to check-in time to immediately enjoy lunch or activities at our destination resorts."

Last June, Wyndham selected Columbia, Md.-based MICROS for fully integrated property management, reservations, customer relationship management and yield management systems. MICROS's Oracle®-based suite of products, called the OPERA Enterprise Solution, and its OPERAPalm, a wireless hand-held device with real-time database access developed with Holtsville, N.Y.-based Symbol Technologies® serve as the technology foundation for Wyndham's new curbside check-in capability.

"The OPERAPalm extends the power of the OPERA Enterprise Solution with its web browser technology for remote access to the hotel's database," says Tom Giannopoulos, president and chief executive officer of MICROS. "In addition to the wireless check-in and check out functionality, MICROS will continue to add features to enable our customers to improve guest service, facilitate hotel management and ultimately increase revenues."

With Wyndham's new wireless registration capabilities, arriving guests will be greeted curbside, asked for their name and a credit card. OPERAPalms will then be used to wirelessly obtain credit card authorization, record the guests' signature and program a guest room key card. Upon check out, wireless printers will print the guest folio and a receipt.

"This new wireless registration offering underscores our commitment to rapidly add technology that enhances each guest's stay with us," Kleisner commented. "It is especially gratifying to add this capability so soon after launching wireless access to our online reservations and to Wyndham ByRequest(SM), Wyndham's unique guest recognition program, from any Web-enabled personal digital assistant or mobile phone. Wyndham truly is leading the charge to incorporate technological conveniences into every aspect of our guest interaction and services."
