Stowe, VT -- Springer-Miller Systems (SMS) is proud to announce that the 2000 SMS|Host Users' Group Conference was the largest, and most well-attended event in its 10-year history.
Held in the beautiful snow-covered mountains of Utah, SMS customers/conference attendees ascended to Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort on November 5, 2000. More than 350 users attended the four-day event. The Conference began with a social event sponsored by the HUG Board of Directors. Their "Altitude/Attitude Adjustment" party featured a Winter Olympics theme and was fully equipped with a bobsled from the US Bobsled team. A member of the Bobsled team joined the group for dinner, and graciously took pictures with SMS|Host Users in the bobsled! The first day of sessions began with a new addition to the HUG Conference... Keynote speaker Devon Harris, Captain of the Jamaican Bobsled team and three-time Olympian, who shared his experiences. Attendees had more than 49 sessions to choose from, including topics such as Visual Spa Scheduling, Golf Tee Times Focus Group, Advanced Internet, Housekeeping, Beginning AIX, and many more. In addition, key SMS staff hosted "one-on-one" sessions and made numerous presentations of new modules and products. As in years past, there was a "notorious" Springer-Miller Party at the finale of the Conference. Since the party fell on Election Day, it had a political theme that encompassed everything from chair covers to a 12-foot bust of the Statue of Liberty on the stage where the 12-piece band played early into the next morning. Attendees dressed as their favorite political figures, and there was even an appearance by Uncle Sam! Newly appointed Host Users Group Chair, Carey Waldrip from Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, VA, said, "the enthusiasm and satisfaction of conference attendees increases each year. HUG attendees gain invaluable knowledge through participation in workshops, focus groups, and impromptu networking sessions with their fellow SMS|Host users. The SMS|Host User Group Board of Directors continues to improve both the conference experience and the benefits available to member properties, and we believe that the SMS|Host Users' Group will continue to be an industry leader." The 2001 Springer-Miller Systems Host Users Group Conference will be held at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in northwest Florida, November 4-7, 2001.
