14 September 2000

Columbia, Md. — Sept. 14, 2000 — MICROS Systems, Inc. [NASDAQ: MCRS] , a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, announced that the Sydney Olympic Village has become the latest user of the world's most popular Property Management System (PMS) Version 7 from MICROS-Fidelio. The total number of rooms for the Sydney Olympic Village amounts to 13,748 with an occupancy rate of 100%.

Brian Dumka, Village Systems Manager, Sydney Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (SOCOG) stated: "SOCOG has been working very hard to make the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games an outstanding event at the dawn of a new millennium. Our goal has been to provide a comfortable, safe and secure environment for our guests from around the world so that they can compete on the world stage fully focused and committed to achieving their lifelong dreams.

In order to provide athletes, technical officials, and media professionals a user-friendly infrastructure during the 2000 Olympic Games, we required a proven and flexible system. MICROS-Fidelio was an obvious choice due to their proven product set, global market presence, and experience in the hospitality industry. Processing thousands of check-ins and running at 100% occupancy creates a unique set of challenges that we were able to manage by utilizing the MICROS-Fidelio Property Management System. The success of this operation was a joint effort between SOCOG and MICROS-Fidelio Australia, a cooperation that was of great significance in facilitating a smooth and warm welcome for the athletes and officials to the Olympic Village."

Stefan M. Piringer, President, MICROS-Fidelio, Asia Pacific Group, added: "MICROS-Fidelio Asia/Pacific is very pleased that the Sydney Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games selected our Property Management System for implementation at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. SOCOG's team, combined with the management and staff of MICROS-Fidelio Australia, performed an outstanding job to implement the largest MICROS-Fidelio installation in the world for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. The configuration of the installation includes 4,433 rooms for the Sydney 2000 Media Village, 1,307 rooms for the Sydney 2000 Technical Officials' Village, and 8,008 rooms for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Village. Australia now holds the record for MICROS-Fidelio worldwide in having the largest PMS and POS installation, namely the Sydney 2000 Olympic Village and the Sydney Olympic Stadium, that opened last year with great success. All of us at MICROS-Fidelio wish SOCOG and the athletes a successful and enjoyable Sydney 2000 experience."
