, a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, today announced the appointment of Mr. William S. Watson as a new member of the company's Board of Directors. The MICROS Board of Directors approved Mr. Watson's appointment at its August 27, 2000 meeting.
Mr. Watson brings over thirty years of experience in technology and its application to the travel and hospitality industry. Mr. Watson currently serves as a Co-Managing Director for the Alliance Solutions Group LLC, a consortium of independent consultants that provides strategic planning and implementation consulting with a specialty in the hospitality and travel industry. During his career, Mr. Watson also served as Vice President of Strategic Marketing for ITT-Sheraton Hotels, and Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer of Best Western International. He has worked extensively in many areas on which MICROS focuses, including hotel central reservations, hotel frequent guest programs, technology deployment, and strategic planning. Mr. Tom Giannopoulos, MICROS Chief Executive Officer and President, stated, "We are delighted to have Bill Watson join our Board of Directors. His extensive experience in information technology, marketing and business development will be called upon in helping MICROS launch its OPERA hotel suite of products, continue to build upon its market leadership in the hospitality industry and chart new ventures in other attractive growth areas. Mr. Watson is assuming the board seat that was vacated on August 26, 2000 due to the retirement of Mr. Daniel Cohen from the Board of Directors. Mr. Cohen had been a member of the Board since 1992.
