MICROS Systems Achieves Prestigious Recognition From Two Technology Industry Groups; Company Ranks Among Top IT Solution Providers and Wins Bronze Award For Systems Excellence
29 August 2000

COLUMBIA, Md., Aug. 29 / MICROS Systems, Inc. [NASDAQ: MCRS] , a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, has been recognized for excellence by two technology industry groups. MICROS has been named to the 2000 VARBusiness 500, the industry's definitive ranking of the top 500 solution providers -- Internet services companies, consultants, and integrators -- in North America. MICROS also received the Bronze Award for Systems/Sofware Vendor from the Independent Cash Register Dealers Association and Systems Dealer Association (ICRDA/SDA) at the group's annual convention in Las Vegas.

With 1999 value-added technology and service revenues of $335.1, MICROS is #97 on the 2000 VARBusiness 500. The ranking was published in a special issue of VARBusiness after an exhaustive research project in which the editors studied the business models and finances of the universe of IT professional services organizations. They narrowed the list to the 500 companies with the greatest revenues coming from technology products and services.

ICRDA/SDA is the nation's top point-of-sale dealer association, representing thousands of members across North America. At its Focus Advantage 2000 convention in Las Vegas, the association presented awards to the top systems vendors, as voted on by association members. MICROS was presented the Bronze Award for Systems/Software Vendor of the Year, and was the only vendor specializing in hospitality systems to win an award.

Late last year, Forbes magazine recognized MICROS for the eighth year, as one of the 200 Best Small Companies in America, and MICROS was also ranked 51st in Business Week's 100 Hot Growth Companies in the U.S. MICROS was the only information technology company providing enterprise applications to the hospitality industry listed in the Business Week survey.

"MICROS has made a commitment to provide the best products and services in the information technology industry, and we are proud to be recognized by VARBusiness and ICRDA/SDA for our efforts and achievements," said Tom Giannopoulos, President and CEO for MICROS. "We are continuing to focus on providing leading-edge solutions to the hospitality industry around the world, and demonstrating our dedication to our customers on a daily basis."
