MICROS to Provide POS Software for Ruby Tuesday Restaurants Throughout the U.S.
7 June 2000

COLUMBIA, Md., June 7 / MICROS Systems, Inc. [NASDAQ: MCRS] , a leading provider of information technology services to the hospitality industry, has completed an agreement to provide restaurant management software and services to Ruby Tuesday, Inc. [NYSE: RI] , a casual- dining restaurant company with over 500 sites nationwide including franchised operations. MICROS has already installed a successful pilot system at a Ruby Tuesday location in Mobile, Alabama, as well as ten additional sites. Starting in September, the MICROS 3700 Point-of-Sale (POS) System will be installed in all Ruby Tuesday locations.

The MICROS 3700 POS System offers enterprise-wide system integration capability and overall flexibility of use. The system's graphical interface features a full-color touch screen and customizable options such as "screen designer," which can help reduce server training time and improve productivity.

According to Mike Snow, Director of Store Systems for Ruby Tuesday, the MICROS system was chosen for its user-friendly interface and open system platform. "We feel that the MICROS 3700 POS system is the one that best meets our needs now and for the future," he said. "The system has worked very well in our pilot locations. We have seen a decrease in server mistakes and a decrease in the amount of time spent training new employees. We also look forward to utilizing the centralized database management features of the system across all our concepts."

Paul Armstrong, Executive Vice President of Restaurant Sales and Strategies for MICROS stated, "The open nature of this new system is a perfect fit for a multi-concept restaurant company like Ruby Tuesday. Our 3700 POS System interfaces with their existing systems yet allows them to migrate to an open system platform and add modules for enhanced capabilities. Choosing this solution gives Ruby Tuesday many advantages in today's growing and increasingly competitive restaurant industry."
