, a leading provider of information technology solutions to the hospitality industry, announced today that it has entered into a 3-year agreement with USinternetworking (USi; NASDAQ: USIX) through which MICROS will offer a suite of application software solutions.
USi's application hosting program will enable MICROS's clients to lease a variety of applications for a monthly fee over the Internet without having to build the technological infrastructure to support the applications in-house. MICROS's first online application is Insight, its restaurant data warehousing product, which is now available as a web-enabled application. A complete suite of hotel and restaurant products will be introduced throughout the year. The USi AppHost Program enables independent software vendors to deploy their applications over USi's Global Services Platform(sm), which was designed and built specifically for delivering web-enabled business applications as a fast, secure, and reliable service. MICROS will leverage USi's ASP-grade infrastructure to help hotels and restaurants quickly deploy and manage their operations. MICROS's Executive Vice President, Strategic Initiatives and General Counsel, Thomas L. Patz, stated that "our partnership with USi AppHost is an important part of the MICROS Internet strategy".
