MICROS is opening the office to provide service to its current customer base and to undertake an aggressive marketing effort to increase the company's presence in one of Canada's strongest economic growth areas. MICROS also plans to open an office in Edmonton, Alberta, in the spring of 2000 to serve the hospitality industry's information technology needs in northern Alberta. Mark Scott, General Manager, MICROS Fidelio Western Canada, said that the Alberta market has been in a strong economic growth cycle for several years, and the hospitality industry has grown to the point where it is essential to have a MICROS Fidelio office to provide technological and sales support. Mr. Scott stated, "the technological advancement of MICROS's products coupled with the current and potential growth in Calgary and Edmonton requires a dedicated, locally situated, fully-trained staff to ensure the high level of quality that our customers demand and deserve. We look forward to increasing the access to MICROS's products and services throughout western Canada."
