MICROS Achieves Its Highest Ranking On the Annual Forbes List of 200 Best Small Companies

BELTSVILLE, Md. / Oct. 26, 1999--MICROS Systems, Inc. [NASDAQ: MCRS] , the world's leading provider of hospitality information technology, was ranked 43rd on the 1999 Forbes listing of the 200 Best Small Companies.

This is MICROS's highest ranking, as the company jumped 16 positions compared to the1998 listing.

In its eighth year of recognition by Forbes, MICROS remains the only integrated enterprise applications software developer exclusively serving the hospitality industry to receive this recognition of superior financial performance. Only top performers can qualify for the Forbes ranking which is published in the magazine's November 1 issue.

The Forbes 200 have a current return-on-equity of at least 10 percent. To make the final cut, companies had to show at least 10 percent earnings growth and 10 percent revenue growth in the latest fiscal year on top of a 10 percent five-year annual average growth.

For the fiscal year period ended June 30, 1999, MICROS's revenue was $335.1 million, an increase of $54.8 million, or 19.6 percent, versus last year. Net income for the year was $27.3 million, an increase of $7.7 million, or 39 percent over the year ago period. Earnings per share for the fiscal year, on a diluted basis, were $1.60, an increase of $0.42, or 35.6 percent over last year's result.
