, the world's leading provider of hospitality information technology solutions, was recently honored by SUBWAY® Restaurants with the "Special Recognition for Outstanding Service and Support" Award at the SUBWAY® National Convention held in Reno, Nevada. MICROS was the only IT company recognized for its achievements during the annual meeting, a special accomplishment for a first year vendor. The award acknowledged MICROS's efforts under a global Point-of-Sale (POS) system upgrade program covering all of the SUBWAY® franchise operations around the world. SUBWAY® currently has nearly 14,000 franchised locations in over 70 countries. In 1998, MICROS was appointed as the sole approved provider of the POS hardware platform for SUBWAY® and has installed approximately 2,500 sites to date. The system selected by SUBWAY® is the MICROS Ultra PC Workstation (PCWS), a state-of-the-art, Pentium-based personal computer with an adjustable touchscreen display, ideally suited for foodservice operations due to its durability, spill-resistant casing and compact design. During the presentation of the award by Fred DeLuca, President and Co-Founder of SUBWAY®, Deirdre Anderson, SUBWAY® Director of Operations, cited MICROS's efforts to make the transition happen as smoothly as possible. "MICROS has been able to provide the right information technology solution for our franchisee operations all over the world," she said. "We believe that MICROS has done an exemplary job and we are convinced that, when finished, the installation will improve the efficiency and profitability of our franchises," Anderson said.
