MICROS Selected by Delta Hotels and Resorts for Enterprise-wide Solution Including Point-of-Sale and Back Office

BELTSVILLE, Md. / Jan. 19, 1999--MICROS Systems, Inc. [NASDAQ: MCRS] , a leading provider of information management solutions for the hospitality industry, announced today that Delta Hotels and Resorts, a subsidiary of Canadian Pacific Hotels, has selected the MICROS 3700 Point-of-Sale (POS) System and Product Management back office software for its 31 properties in North America, Asia and the Caribbean.

Delta Hotels and Resorts selected the MICROS 3700 POS System, an advanced Microsoft Windows NT-based POS solution, for its enterprise-wide system integration capability and overall ease of use. The MICROS solution combines POS, back-office and corporate-office applications that enable Delta to consolidate operational processes and centralize deci sion making for its distributed operations.

For example, with MICROS Product Management, Delta can control inventory, recipe costing, ordering, receiving and vendor management across all properties, resulting in more cost effective and efficient ordering and receiving processes.

In addition, the 3700 POS's easy-to-use graphical interface and flex ible features such as "screen designer", which allows the operator to customize the POS screen layout, help reduce server training time and improve productivity.

Delta will also be implementing an enhanced property management system (PMS) interface between the 3700 POS and the hotel's MICROS-Fidelio Front Office software, an advanced PMS developed by MICROS's hotel division to manage hotel front desk operations. The interface allows the front desk to view guests' restaurant checks from the POS system, amo ng other advanced features.
