Best Western International completes first Global Central Reservation System implementation with MICROS-Fidelio
30 April 1997

BELTSVILLE, Md / MICROS Systems Inc., one of the world's leading providers of hospitality information technology, announced Wednesday that its hotel systems subsidiary, MICROS-Fidelio International, has completed the worldwide roll-out of Best Western International's strategic Central Reservations System (CRS) providing service to nearly 3,700 Best Western International (BWI) hotel properties worldwide.

The BWI implementation is the largest global, single-image CRS operational today.

"The system is designed with customer service and sales productivity as a primary focus. All property and product related reservation information is consolidated into one database that can be accessed from any guest service provider," said Mike Kennedy, CIO of Best Western International.

"Now, no matter where our guests call -- 1-800 number, travel agent, Global Distribution System (GDS), or to the property itself -- they'll get the same, consistent information on Best Western property availability and rates -- quickly and accurately."

Jeff Edwards, president and CEO of MICROS-Fidelio International, added, "BWI's move to a new CRS was driven by its desire to deliver a consistent level of service across properties. The advanced guest history capabilities of the new system will allow reservation agents to automatically display key guest information and history.

"This gives BWI the opportunity to track millions of guest preferences at thousands of properties around the world. The Fidelio CRS provides BWI unparalleled power to offer targeted guest service globally."

Beyond its enhanced guest service capabilities, the decision support information provided by the CRS gives BWI the ability to manage availability of product across the chain.

This provides a clear competitive advantage for BWI during peak periods as well as strong information to drive target marketing and promotional programs. The result of this investment in information technology is optimized occupancy and rates for BWI.
