Look no further for family things to do in Niagara this winter, the second annual Cintron SportsFest Niagara features multiple amateur sports competitions and sports programs in January of 2013.

Niagara Falls, ON – The CAA Winter Festival of Lights announced today details of the second annual Cintrón SportsFest Niagara, a multi-sport event consisting of traditional and non-traditional, amateur Niagara sports competitions, including dodgeball, ball hockey, gymnastics, and volleyball taking place at venues throughout the Niagara Region from January 25 to 27, 2013. Cintrón SportsFest Niagara also includes coaching clinics for basketball, rugby, swimming and volleyball.

In 2011, the CAA Winter Festival of Lights received a two-year, $81,400 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Government of Ontario, to hire a manager to help develop Cintrón SportsFest Niagara and create one of the most incredible sports programs in Canada.

"Community participation in sport and recreation activities contributes to better health, provides role models for the pursuit of personal excellence, exemplifies the value of teamwork and builds community pride," said Kim Craitor, MPP for Niagara Falls.

The Chinese New Year Women's Invitational gymnastics meet will be hosted by Gymnastics Energy at their facility in St. Catharines (101 Hannover Dr.). The three-day Niagara sports competition starts Friday, January 25th and concludes Sunday, January 27th with over 350 athletes representing 14 gymnastics clubs competing from across Ontario.

On Saturday, January 26th, Dodgeball Mania takes over the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls as up to 750 participants will 'dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge' for the recreational and competitive division championships, where $5,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded.

Meanwhile, celebrate a classic Niagara sport with the Niagara Winter Classic, a 4-on-4 outdoor ball hockey tournament will take place at the Ball Hockey International (BHi) St. Catharines facility (1944 Welland Canals Parkway) from January 25th to 27th. Ten different divisions will be offered to allow young and old, as well as male and female competitors to participate.

The Cintrón Court Classic Volleyball Tournament takes place at the Niagara Sport & Social Club (469 Rice Rd.) in Welland on January 26th with co-ed recreational and co-ed intermediate divisions competing in the Niagara sports event.

Niagara sport coaching clinics for Swimming (Jan. 25 – 27, Fort Erie Secondary School, 7 Tait Ave.); Rugby (Jan. 26, Cherrywood Acres School, 4635 Petit Ave, Niagara Falls); Volleyball (Jan 26 – 27, Port Weller Community Centre, 1 Bogart St., St Catharines) and Basketball (Jan. 25 – 27, Westlane High School, 5960 Pitton Rd., Niagara Falls) will also occur during the Cintrón SportsFest Niagara weekend. Lastly, all Cintrón SportsFest Niagara participants are invited to enjoy the Celebration of Sports Party at the Scotiabank Convention Centre beginning at 8pm on Saturday, January 26th. The Party tops off the sports programs and includes a host of activities including a lineup of chart-topping Canadian DJ and electronic dance music acts who will be performing, headlined by the critically acclaimed video set of Skratch Bastid who will be joined by special guests Keys N Krates and BADBADNOTGOOD.
