Percipia Networks, the nation’s largest hotel IP telephony software provider, recently added a radically new feature to its software product, the Percipia Transient Communications Engine. The PreCog™ Guest Profile Delivery Feature, unveiled with the Hotel Technology Next Generation (HTNG) group at the June HiTec trade show in Dallas, provides hotel staff with relevant preference and profile data whenever a guest makes a call to a particular area of the hotel, such as the restaurant or spa. “This new feature will help hoteliers upsell services and products while improving guest service,” Hari Kesavan, Percipia’s Chief Technology Officer, said. Percipia’s IP technology is intended for upper-scale business and leisure hotels. Kesavan said that business and leisure travelers alike appreciate the higher level of service which hoteliers are able to deliver with this feature.. “When your staff knows the guest’s interests and preferences at the exact moment the guest calls, superior service and upselling become not just possible but almost inevitable,” he said. Percipia’s new feature, which met with considerable interest from hotel owners as well as industry insiders at HiTec, works in conjunction with its existing PTCE software to fulfill customers’ desire for improved communication with their guests. “The development of the PreCog features and functions provides another compelling justification for hoteliers to take the step from traditional phone systems to IP-based phone systems,” said Percipia president Chris Farrar. Percipia’s guest recognition software marks a dramatic leap forward in IP telephony. The guest recognition feature displays the caller’s profile or preference information on the phone of the staff member receiving the call. Information on a variety of preferences may be displayed. This can include crucial information regarding language, food and beverage preferences, allergies, spa service preferences and more. Only the profile information which is relevant to the staff position receiving the call is actually displayed. Percipia is the only company to interconnect guest profiles and call functions in this manner. The PreCog feature is one of the first tangible products to take shape as a result of HTNG’s focus on bringing vendors with complementary products into a common data communications architecture. At HiTec, Percipia demonstrated the feature in tandem with another HTNG member, Springer-Miller Systems. John Springer-Miller, president of Springer-Miller Systems said, “The new technology relationship between SMS and Percipia is one of the most exciting developments in the industry to come along in many years. This opens new doors for properties that want to drive automated, personalized services into their hotel rooms. For the first time, in-room systems can dynamically respond to guest needs and preferences.”
