AUSTIN, TEXAS; Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is proud to announce that hospitality technology consultant, Ted Horner has been selected as the 2004 HFTP International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame inductee. Horner was selected for promoting the use and expansion of hospitality technology in Australia. Horner will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at this year's HITEC Awards presentation on June 22 at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas Texas. HITEC 2004 will be held June 21-24 at the Dallas Convention Center. "I regard the Hall of Fame award very highly and it is without a doubt the pinnacle of my career to date," said Horner. "I am honored to be inducted, particularly to join the other 23 outstanding individuals who I have admired for their contributions over the years." Horner is currently the managing director of E. Horner and Associates Pty Ltd. He has dedicated most of his working life to advancing technology in the hospitality industry and has pushed the technology envelope for over 20 years. He was a founding member of the Hospitality Industry Technology Association (HITA) and created the first ever conference and exhibition on technology in the hospitality industry in Australia. Horner also launched Australia's first portal site specializing in hospitality technology, called www.hospitalitytechnology.com.au In 1989 he established his own consultancy practice, E. Horner and Associates Pty Ltd, to concentrate on hospitality technology to the point where his company is now regarded as one of the leading consultants in their area of Australia. Over the last 15 years Horner has been involved in many consulting assignments involving a wide variety of clients such as resorts, hotels, convention centers, casinos, restaurants, golf clubs and retirement villages. Horner has given speeches at conferences in Australia and around the world including HITEC, HITA, Eurhotec, Hostec and other major conferences in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India and Thailand. He has also written hundreds of articles on technology since the 1980's for all of the major hospitality magazines in Australia and more recently overseas. With a variety of industry achievements and through his dedication and passion, Horner continually helps define the role of hospitality technology in Australia and around the world. Nominations were solicited in March from industry press, current Hall of Fame members, industry association executives and HFTP leaders.
